During spring term
We are learning about inspirational people in our Religious Education lessons and discussing why we are inspired by certain people. We have looked at The Beatitudes as a way of being happy and have looked at what happiness means to us. We then voted for the things that made us most happy. We have looked at why certain people lived their life by Jesus’ teachings and how they fitted into different Beatitudes. After that we will concentrate on what sin is and how that takes us further from God and how we need to repent in order to fix things with him.
In English, the books we are studying are Arthur and the Golden Rope, a mythological based quest. The Darkest Dark, a biographical based story, which tells the story of the life of Chris Hadfield, a Canadian astronaut and the way he was inspired to follow his dream. This book leads us to look at the moon landings, based around One Giant Leap. We will then look at writing our very own versions of all of these genres. Or class novel is the thought-provoking book, The Boy at the Back of the Class, which produces such important rich and ethical conversations that we all have a much greater understanding of the suffering that some families face,
In our maths lessons, we are going to complete our unit based on fractions and will be moving onto percentages and decimals, using our Maths No Problem scheme. We have daily arithmetic alongside these lessons which cover the four operations, as well as our weekly arithmetic and multiplication tests.
For our Science lessons, we focus on two topics: Forces – different types of forces and how they act upon an object; Properties and changes of materials.
