Christmas

Christmas is one of the most important feasts in the Church’s liturgical year when we celebrate the birth of Jesus.

During the last week of Advent in school we give our children lots of memorable experiences of the Christmas season. In RE we study and reflect upon the scriptures and we present our versions to the rest of the school via our Nativity Plays. The Nursery and Reception children perform their version of the Nativity story as do Year 1 and 2. We all end the Autumn term in church together for the Junior Carol Service where Father blesses us all with a Christmas Blessing.

Christmas Dinner Day is a wonderful occasion when we wear our Christmas clothes and all eat together. Nursery have their own mini dinner in Nursery and then the rest of the school meet in the school hall and have their dinner served to them by our staff and governors. We also all squeeze into one classroom and sing carols and Christmas songs together.

Father Christmas always makes time to visit and we enjoy decorating our class and school Christmas trees.

During 2020 and 2021 we managed to share three virtual Nativity Plays and a virtual Carol Concert, we had our Christmas Dinners in our class bubbles and Father Christmas joined us via zoom!
