Easter is the most important feast of the church’s year and we always try to be in school during Holy Week so that we can celebrate it in a variety of ways.
We always finish the Spring term with a two day retreat when we work together in our Houses on a Holy Week theme. It is lovely to see children of different ages working together with staff from different parts of the school. We make banners and prayer displays focusing on the important days of Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. We always visit church to look at the Stations of the Cross and one year we had a treasure hunt in church to find all the important things used during Mass. We take our CAFOD boxes and empty them in to the Parish Collection but don’t tell Father as he is always surprised to find the bottle full on Easter Sunday! We always have something to eat, hot cross buns or eggs that we have decorated and rolled. It is one of our favourite times of the year and we always end the spring term in the school hall together sharing what we have done as we walk our way through Holy Week.
