What is the School Council?
The school council works to make improvements to the school and the way we do things at St James’. We look around for things that could be better and discuss what to do. Everyone gets a chance to speak and when we’ve finished we vote on the best ideas and then start working on changing things. We ask our peers for their input and opinions and sometimes we have to talk to our teachers.
Who are the School Councillors?
Every year, each class vote for two new representatives. A good representative will speak at the council meetings about things that their class is interested in. They will also tell their class about what is going on in the council meetings and put the minutes up on the School Council notice board.
Head Boy and Head Girl
Our Year 6 representatives on the school council are also our Head Boy and Head Girl. They have some added responsibilities such as leading council meetings and showing visitors around school. Each week, during our Community Assembly, they award two children a special certificate in recognition of their good behaviour and kindness towards others.
Valentines Disco February 2025
The school council planned a fantastic Valentines Disco. They decided on the ticket price, food and drink to be served, as well as all the decorations for the hall.
