English Interventions

1-1 tuition: One to one tuition is given to individual children in Years 5 and 6 by a qualified teacher who works with the class teacher to identify how children can be moved on in their English work.

Reading Recovery is an intervention offered to individual children in Years 1 and 2. It is an international programme which allows the children to make accelerated progress in reading and writing.

Better Reading Partnership: Trained staff and volunteers work with the children to help the children develop confidence in reading and understanding a variety of different text types.

Reading Buddies: Trained Junior children hear children read for 5 minutes each day.

Lexia: An individualised computer based fun approach to learning phonics for children of all ages. Lexia can be accessed from home – see Mrs Kinder for details.

Nessy: An individualised computer-based fun approach to learning phonics for children.

All these interventions have been proven to accelerate progress in English for all the children who participate in these group and individual programmes.
