I have taught in Hattersley since I graduated 1999. I have a PGCE and a BA (hons) in Brass Band Studies. I was a class teacher until 2006 when I was given the opportunity to undertake some additional training and become a Reading Recovery teacher which I have loved doing. I have now taken on the role of the Read Write Inc. lead teacher as we develop our phonics and reading within school and I love teaching the nursery class every morning. I share the role of English co-ordinator with Miss Birtles and the role of Music co-ordinator with Mrs Walker. I also share the SENCo role with Miss Chapman. I love my job and the whole family of St James School. Mrs Kinder
I joined St James in 2014. I am a level 3 teaching assistant. I work in EYFS and KS1 l. I am one of many first aiders. I love my role, being part of any activities, school plays and being part of the St James community. Miss Fawcett
I joined the happy family of St James’ RC Hattersley in 2018 and I must say this was one of the best decisions I have made. It is a joy to work in such a happy and caring environment where the children are at the heart of everything the school does. I take my role of Early Years Lead and joint Religious Education lead alongside Mr Woolley extremely seriously and I fully believe every child deserves the best possible start in life, and at St James’ we ensure the child’s first experiences to be positive and exciting, both in Nursery or Reception. We provide a caring, secure and safe environment where every child is valued and respected as individuals, striving to reach their own full potential. Miss Eustace
My life started at St James in September 1986 when I started in the Nursery. I do not think I have ever truly left. I got a part time job in the Nursery and have enjoyed watching children grow through the school. In 2019, I moved to reception and work with Miss Eustace. I enjoy helping the children grow in all aspects of their learning. When they come into Reception and leave to go onto the next class, I always have a smile at how far they come. St James is an amazing place to work. Mrs Childs
I joined St James’ Catholic Primary School as Year 1 class teacher in 2013 bringing 3 years’ experience of teaching Key Stage 2 with me. I find St James’ a wonderful community to be a member of and I thoroughly enjoy being part of its ever-continuing development! I have been Science Coordinator since 2014, a role I enjoy as I have a background in Science, completing a degree in Biomedical Science before training to be a teacher. I became Special Educational Needs Coordinator along with Mrs Kinder in 2016, which I find extremely rewarding, and PSHE Coordinator along with Mr Woolley in 2018, and I am also Mental Health Lead. In my spare time I enjoy spending time in the outdoors, walking and cycling, and enjoy traveling to other countries when I can. Miss Chapman
After qualifying as a teacher with BA Hons in Primary Education, I studied further to gain an MA in Education and the Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies. In my teaching career, I have been a Class teacher, Subject lead, Key stage leader and Deputy Head. I have worked at St James previously in the Nursery and Reception classes. I am really excited that I can be part of the wonderful, caring St James family again. Mrs Sanderson
