Spring 2025
Welcome to Class 4’s Spring Term.
We are looking forward to a new, exciting term in Class 4. We have lots of interesting lessons to look forward to. I am sure there will be something to inspire and help create curiosity and a love for learning for each child.
RE
We continue to follow our new RE Scheme – The Vine and The Branches.
We begin with Branch 3-Galilee to Jerusalem and Branch 4 – Desert to Garden.
We will enjoy learning about Jesus and John the Baptist, Jesus and Peter, Jesus performing miracles and the Sacraments of the Sick and Reconciliation. Branch 4 will include; God’s mercy and forgiveness, Works of Mercy, Journey to Jerusalem, The Last Supper and the Passion and Death of Jesus.
Maths
We continue to follow the Maths No Problem Scheme – This term we will learn Calculations: Further Multiplication – Decimals and Percentages: Fractions – Measurement: Time and Money.
English
Our texts for the Spring term are; Escape From Pompeii – Christina Balit and The Wisp – Zana Fraillon. Children will learn about the historical facts of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, whilst retelling the story and events of that terrible day. The Wisp helps us to explore the theme of home and belonging. We will learn how each child has the right to a home. Children will learn about the Rights of the Child and how refugees face an uncertain time in refugee camps. The Wisp offers hope and a belief in a brighter future.
Science
Our topics for the Spring term are States of Matter and Sound
