As well as saying traditional prayers such as the “Hail Mary” and the “Our Father”, and also our school prayers throughout the day, children in Class 5 work in small groups to prepare and lead weekly class Celebration of the Word sessions. These are usually based on our RE theme or topic for each week. We focus on four key areas “Gather”, “The Word”, “Response to the Word” and finishing with “Mission (Go Forth)”. When planning these sessions, the children will choose a prayer focus, select relevant scripture, choose hymns, songs or relaxing music, write their own bidding prayers and think how to put their faith into action.
