I qualified in 2007 with a BA Honours degree in Primary Education. I have had experience teaching every year group in Primary but have spent a lot of my career teaching Year Two ? I have done some lecturing at Manchester University and working with students which is good fun, but I think that Year Two children have a much better imagination and better attendance!! I have been lucky enough to work at St James since 2012. I am Key Stage One Leader and English Co-ordinator; which means I keep a close eye on the English we teach here at Saint James and I also put on a cracking Nativity every year. I also work as a Local Authority Moderator and support other schools in Tameside with their assessments for Key Stage One. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and exploring new places in our campervan!! Miss Birtles
I was employed as a Nursery Nurse back in 2004 to work at St James Nursery and Reception class. Since having my two boys Jack in 2008 and Ewan in 2010, I have been working part time. Over the years my job role has changed slightly. I now work in Year 2 all day Monday and Tuesday’s. Then in Nursery Wednesday, Thursday and Friday’s as a TA4. Which I absolutely love! I have always enjoyed being in EYFS. But now I get to work in upper KS1 and I’m really enjoying seeing the children’s progression. I went to college straight after leaving school to train as a nursery nurse. I have a CCE (Child care education) certificate and the NNEB Diploma. This took me 3 years. Since working at St James’ I have also qualified as a Forest School Leader, which took a lot of work and a year to complete. But totally worth it, as being outdoors and learning different skills outside is a big passion of mine. I love being able to plan and teach in a completely different way. I’m also a qualified paediatric first aider and always keep this updated with refresher days. I’m happy to help in any way I can in school. I feel it’s good to be a positive and flexible person. I love my job and especially love being part of the St James family. Mrs Malone
I joined St James in April 2009 initially I started working in nursery in the mornings and year 1 in the afternoons. For the past 9 years I’ve been working in year 2 with Miss Birtles where we have lots of fun sometimes too much haha along with some afternoons in year 1. I am part of the Science co-ordinator team working alongside Miss Chapman. I have also worked with Mrs Kinder to implement Lexia throughout the school. Outside school, I spend most of my spare time with my 3 horses training and competing in show jumping and dressage. I also love spending time with my 2 grandchildren. I currently work part time in school Wednesday and Thursdays, which I run alongside my work in the family business. Mrs Seton-Jones
I went to The University of Nottingham where I studied History and American Studies and graduated in 2015. I then completed a PGCE course and qualified as a teacher at the University of Cumbria in 2015 and then completed my NQT year in 2016-2017 at St John Fisher Primary School. I then joined the amazing team at St James in September 2017, where I began teaching as the class teacher in Year 1. Since 2018, I have been the class teacher in Year 3 working closely with Miss Alcock. I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Key Stage 2 team. I became the Geography Coordinator at St James in 2018 and I am part of the running club with Mr Woolley and Mrs Collins. I particularly love the musical talent that we have at St James, I love how music plays a huge part of school life and I enjoy contributing to Parish masses at St James Church by playing my flute. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, and I am always kept busy by reading books that are recommended to me. Mrs Field
